 OUR OCTOBER MEETING WILL BE A WEEK EARLIER THAN NORMAL

 DATE: SUNDAY 20 OCTOBER 2013

TIME: 12:30 P.M.

VENUE: ROTORUA ARTS VILLAGE,

( 1240 Hinemaru Street)

 Our Guest Speakers will be Laytee George along with some of her Chinese Language Students who will have just returned from their trip to China. Also Laytee hopes to bring with her two Mandarin Language Assistants who have been sent here by HANBAN- Confucius Institute Victoria University for one year to assist the NZ classroom teachers to facilitate the delivery of the Chinese language. Yang Yanyan is from Shandong and Zhou Huimin is from Shanghai. They are students on a Masters Degree programme specialising in the teaching of Chinese to foreigners. Yanyan is helping at Kaharoa, Kaitao, Western Heights and John Paul College while Huimin is helping at Rotorua Intermediate, Rotorua Primary, Mokoia Intermediate and Otonga Schools.

This will give everyone a chance to see how Laytee’s Chinese Language Programme is progressing and the students impression of China. Don’t forget we will start with our usual shared lunch. Bring a friend and enjoy a friendly, enjoyable and informative afternoon. We welcome everyone to our meetings

 NOVEMBER MEETING

Our November meeting will be our usual End of the Year / Christmas Lunch at a restaurant. Bring your ideas as to where and the date you would like to hold this years luncheon.

 OTHER INFORMATION

 Lei Lei wants to share her hobby of making jewelry with beads she imports from Italy. It is a chance to make your Christmas presents for family. She will be holding classes every Thursday, 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th November at 1:30 p.m. The classes will be held at her home, 27 Shirley Street. The only cost will be the cost of material i.e. beads you use to make what you wish to make. She has many colours to choose from. It should be great fun so come along and take advantage of this offer to learn something new while meeting others.  BEGINNERS TAI CHI CLASS

 Helen Sun has changed her beginners Tai Chi class to every Thursday Evenings 7:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. being held at the RSA. The cost is $ 5.00 per session. The class consists of a warm up and stretching session and then learning the National Standard simplified 24 movements of Tai Chi Quan. This is suitable for all. Also a good way to relieve stress. Give it a go. It is a very enjoyable way to exercise on a regular basis. You will be surprised that you can work up a sweat doing such a low impact exercise.
