Phil Royston with award

Congratulations are due to long-standing Christchurch member, Phil Rolston, who has recently returned from Beijing with China’s highest award for foreign researchers.   The International Science & Technology Co-operation Award was given to Phil in recognition of his work in China since the early 1980s, which has helped to change the face of that country’s farming systems. A senior scientist with AgResearch’s Lincoln-based forage breeding team, Phil was one of seven people to receive the award in a recent ceremony attended by more than 3000 people.

“Huge areas, that used to be almost desert, now resemble New Zealand green pasture”, said the outgoing NZ Ambassador to China, Carl Worker, “and this is a result of Phil’s great work.”

Only 40 other people have ever received this award!!
