Hastings and Guilin were the first sister city relationship between a New Zealand and Chinese city signed in 1981 and I’m the Deputy Chair of the Hastings Guilin Sister City Board of Directors, a Hastings District Council/Community Board which oversees the relationship and initiates activity between the two cities.
