The Timaru Branch welcomed the Year of the Rooster with a New Year Banquet at the Golden Palace Restaurant on 29 January. Over 60 people attended and the meal was excellent so a really enjoyable evening was enjoyed by those present.
Timaru’s recently arrived Mandarin Language Assistant Debbie Xu was present and was introduced to the gathering. She will be continuing the work of introducing Timaruvians to Chinese language and culture started by previous MLAs. She will be working with groups at Timaru Girls’ High School as well as running courses at the ARA Institute’s Timaru Confucius Centre.
