 “Voices for Youth”

Planning is well under way for what is going to be a wonderful and exciting conference! Hawke’s Bay is well known for food and wine and we will be show-casing our region.

We have invited the Hawke’s Bay Youth Orchestra to perform a concert for us, including a special composition dedicated to Simon Deng Li, Honorary Patron of the New Zealand China Friendship Society.  This special piece has been written by Xi Yao, a young traditional Gu-Zheng musician and member of the Traditional Chinese Music School based in Hamilton, and is being transcribed into classical format for instruments including violin, viola, cello, double bass and flute.

A number of young people will speak about their thoughts and experiences including Hawke’s Bay high school exchange students recently returned from Hastings’ Sister-City schools in Guilin and other young adults from various Branches.

Hawke’s Bay is renowned for its vast array of fresh local produce, farmers markets and artisan producers. Our banquet will be a fusion of local and Chinese cuisine and Chef Jeremy Rimene will introduce the dishes.  Maimai Creek Winery will select their outstanding wines to complement the food and be at the banquet to introduce the different flavour matches.

Download the registration pack for information and register now.  We look forward to you having a great time with us and welcome you to Hawke’s Bay!  You could also download a Word document of the registration form.
