Since the 1980s, Helen Wong, a second generation NZ born Chinese, has researched and assisted people discover their Chinese roots.

Successes include:helping an American trace her family villages, and meeting her and her mother in China; a Canadian traced his Grandfather’s village, culminating in his family reunion in 2010; and assisting a third generation Kiwi trace Paternal Grandfather and Paternal Grandmother’s three villages, resulting in a joint visit to China in November 2012.

She has contributed research to publications, co-authored a publication, self published two books; recorded family stories, whilst maintaining a message board and several blogs.  Currently her research is on the Auckland Chinese fruit shops, and possible collaborative research to cover the rest of New Zealand.
