Students making fruit juices at Chan Chun Ha School English Club

Chan Chun Ha secondary school, located in Hong Kong’s New Territories, is looking for New Zealanders who can give about one hour a week to take part in their i-Mentor Programme.

This involves simply replying to e-mails once a week sent by students who wish to improve their English and get to know and develop friendship with New Zealanders.

The recruiting period is until the end of September this year and the school is working up guidelines for the i-Mentors with the programme starting late  October.  The students will be Secondary 3 – 4 students (aged 14-15).

Ms Tracy Chan of the English Department of the School, is in charge and will conduct an explanatory briefing for i-Mentors once recruiting has been completed.

Students will be expected to take the initiative and communicate with their NZ pen pals via email and they are expected to keep a learning journal and share their learning experience with other CCH students at morning assembly. The initial topics the students are expected to cover are:

  • self- introduction
  • highlights of school life
  • festival highlights
  • sharing on personal life experience
  • opinions on current social issues

The email communication with i-Mentors will last from late October 2012 to May 2013.

So how about becoming an i-Mentor now?
