The Wellington Dragon Dance Group are confirmed. They performed at the spectacular Wellington Chinese New Year festivities a couple of weeks ago and will be bringing the Dragon and their Lion Dances.   Please tell your friends, family and workmates to come along and experience performances from China, Sri Lanka, Tonga and Te Aute College to name a few. All ingredients are available from her shop, Hong Ke Long Chinese Mini-Mart at 13 Morris Spence Avenue, Onekawa, Napier  or from most Asian supply outlets.  The filling: Stir fry 500gm diced pork with one diced chopped onion. Add 2 tbsp each of Hoisin Sauce, Oyster Sauce and maltose (or honey).  Stir in approximately one or two tablespoons of potato starch to make a thick mixture and leave in the fridge until needed. Hastings Guilin 30th Anniversary Celebrations March 2011

Hastings and Guilin celebrated 30 years of their successful  Sister-City relationship, which was the first between a New Zealand and Chinese city.    The Guilin Performing Group had a full week visiting schools to perform, and public performances at the Opera House and Cornwall Park.  The Guilin City Delegation had formal talks with the Hastings District Council and business meetings with winegrowers.  They generously made a donation of US $5,000 to the Christchurch Earthquake appeal.  … [Read more...]
