Tour Update

Detailed planning is well underway to make this NZCFS 60th Birthday Tour a fantastic tour for NZCFS. This is a unique opportunity for NZCFS members and interested members of the public alike to enjoy great travel in combination with the experience of meeting people and visiting places that share NZCFS’ past and present partnerships. This will capture the theme for NZCFS 60th anniversary, “in our past we find our future” and give deeper insight into real China than a standard tour can provide.

Recently there have been some minor alterations to the previous itinerary promoted below, with all the activities included, but an extra stopover in Shanghai included. See the revised and updated itinerary, NZCFS 60th Birthday China Tour, along with the 60th Birthday Tour map. Positions on this tour are still available, see the flyer for contact details and enquiry.

One of the highlights for the 60th Birthday tour will be the celebrations in Shandan on September 12. We anticipate that VIPs in attendance from New Zealand and China will make this an important occasion. This celebration will combine with the 70th celebration for Shandan Bailie School, and between NZCFS and SBS, a lot of people will attend. From NZCFS we will have our tour group. SBS are organising various VIPs from Shandan, Zhangye and up to provincial level dignitaries. Bailie Old Boys Secretary General Yang Chunlin indicates there will be up to 100 old boys also coming.

An afternoon seminar with a number of speakers is being planned. This will give a number of different aspects of the significance of the two organisations, and pointers as to where our inter-relationship can take us in the future. In the evening, a dinner will be held, at which our NZCFS/Gungho International Award for best cooperatives in our projects in Shandan and Zhangye will be presented. Both these occasions will showcase the school, our society, and our project work together to the local dignitaries, and raise the profile of SBS and cooperative promotion.
