In October 2016 the Timaru Branch of the New Zealand China Friendship Society had guest Dave Thew talk on Chinese Healing Arts.
Dave is 2010 Westpac Halberg Sportsman of the year nominee, National, Australasian and twice World Tai chi Gold Medallist.
Dave teaches Tai chi, Qigong (energy Exercise) and is a Medical Qigong Therapist of over 30 years’ experience.
Dave gave an interesting talk on Tai chi and Qigong Exercise and the principles of effortless movement, relaxation and awareness of mind/body as one.
Dave explained about our energy system, how it works and how we can improve our health and wellbeing through exercises that the Chinese have been practising for centuries.
After much discussion Dave concluded the evening with his gold medal winning Tai Chi competition form.
