RECENTLY…

Our July meeting included a Chinese Hot Pot dinner hosted by Haixin – and the meal and the chat around the table was so enjoyable that we decided to put off watching our film for another occasion.

Thank you Haixin for your hospitality.

The Dunedin International Film Festival included a showing of the film 11 Flowers. The showing was partly funded by the Confucius Institute and a number of our members and friends enjoyed the occasion.

See the trailer and background info here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jckfK7ORl3c

And those who met our June guest Liu Guozhong can see the paper he presented to the International Cooperatives Conference. At http://nzascm.coop/presentations/ you will find the slideshow for this presentation. The NZCFS involvement comes under the heading “NGO’s Experience in Promoting ICIS-style Cooperatives in West China”.

27 OCTOBER Traditional Chinese Music

A meeting for those who would like an introduction to Traditional Chinese Music -. A Beginners Guide ….

Learn about the instruments, the traditions, the voice. An opportunity to share with those who have been learning about this fascinating art, and if you wish, a chance for some hands on experience.

To whet your appetite check out this taste of erhu (it will be Spring by October won’t it?) and a bit of opera.

PHOTOGRAPHY-Our speakers this month are of course keen photographers. So is Ms Ma Baoru, from Baoding, China, who visited us in June. See July newsletter. Here are two examples of her work.
