Shi Hongli’s report to Dave Bromwich, Projects Committee, May 2011

“I have changed a lot from the first year to now. I was shy, lost and anxious, but now I am more confident, positive and brave. All these changes are due to the help and support from you because I know there is a hope plus responsibility, which makes me move forward without hesitation.”

Her classes have included experience in the emergency department and intensive care units at the hospital and some practical experience in use of nasal-feed tubes, administering injections, etc., and she writes about her growing understanding of the nurse’s role as an ‘angel’ who needs to understand patients’ problems from their perspectives

Zhangye Women’s Federation report. May 2011

Zhangye WF have appointed Zhang Zhiying as liaison person with Shi Hongli. She makes contact once each term by phone or e-mail and checks all is well with her life, discussing her progress and ideas. She offers encouragement and support. Shi Hongli has made great progress in life outlook, personality and confidence. With her family background, the scholarship has lifted a great financial burden, which allows her to make this progress.

Shi Hongli is making mid-level to above-average achievement and meeting requirements. She is also joining in many social activities: debating, volunteer help with elderly people living alone, working with AIDS awareness, took part in a photographic exhibition and came 3rd in an embroidery competition. She has joined the Communist Party of China.
