International Cultures Day Hastings

The world will again come to Cornwall Park in Tomoana Road, Hastings for International Cultures Day. The 2013 edition of this popular event will feature food from all corners of the globe while entertainers from local and visiting cultural groups will bring their own special style to the stage. Guest performers include the Sri Lankan Dance Academy from Wellington and the Garage Wallahs, a Bollywood dance group from Auckland.

Entry is free and the performances are from 11 am to 3.30pm.

Sri Lankan Dance Academy Wellington 

 

The Sri Lankan Dance Academy in Wellington are sending a Guru-Gola Sankalana duo, meaning that a traditional cultural masterpiece is presented by the teacher and his student (follower) bringing together the best of two generations. Over several centuries Sri Lanka has seen an evolution in the traditions of drums and their usage.

 

Garage Wallahs Diwali

 

 

 

The popular Indian Bollywood dance group from Auckland, Garage Walla, will perform their high voltage and humorous routines.

Local entertainers to take the stage include Te Aute College students, the Samoan Fetuao Youth Choir, and dance groups from the Philippine and Thai communities, as well as performances from a Chinese children’s singing group and a Tai Chi demonstration. Food will once again be a feature available from our Chinese, Russian, German, Philippine, Indian, Indonesian, Thai, Brazilian and Sri Lankan communities.
