Miles Barker has been a member of the Waikato Branch of NZCFS since 1984 and is a past Branch Committee member. His love of China arises from his six visits to China (the first was in 1977), from the fact that his wife’s mother was born in Henan province, and from his teaching with Chinese graduate students. Miles was a secondary school science teacher for seventeen years and a tertiary teacher for twenty-one years. He is now retired from the University of Waikato, where he was an Associate-Professor of science education and environmental education.
