GREETINGS TO ALL:NZCFS-Logo

OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE:

DATE: Sunday 24 MARCH 2013

TIME: 12:30 P.M.

VENUE: ROTORUA ARTS CENTRE (RAVE)   1240 Hinemaru Street

This meeting will be something a little different. Nellie Wong will demonstrate how to prepare and cook one of China’s popular dishes “Chang shou mein” (Chow Mein). In Northern China people eat wheat products more than rice. In other words they eat noodles every day instead of rice which is more popular in Southern China. “Chang shou mein” means long life noodles. There are many ways to cook noodles; deep fry, steam or dry mixed with oyster sauce. They can be be mixed with all sorts of meat, fish, eggs or vegetables. Lan Zhou China is very famous for beef noodles. The noodles are made by hand and are both thick and thin eggs noodles. Visitors to Lan Zhou can watch a demonstration of noodle making. During festival or birthdays the Chinese people cook Chow Mein or noodle soup to wish all a long and prosperous life. I hope everyone will contribute by telling about their favourite Chinese dish or one of their more interesting experiences eating Chinese food either here in N.Z. or in China. We will taste Nellie’s finished

dish. It should be a fun and interesting afternoon. Do some homework about Chinese food customs and contribute to the day.

Yes we will still have our shared lunch before the demonstration. Everyone is welcome so feel free to bring a friend along to join us.
