Dr Bruce Harding was an educator and later archivist at Christchurch Boys’ High School, where Rewi attended before the Great War. He was involved in collecting and collating material on Alley, especially for the visit to CBHS of the President of China, Jiang Zemin after the APEC meeting in September 1999. Sir David Carter accompanied President Zemin on that visit and assembled display material about Rewi for the President to view. He later participated in the 125th Alley Centenary held at the School in 2017 and assisted a CCTV documentary team. Harding was, with Professor Willmott, a Research Associate at the Macmillan Brown Centre for Pacific Studies and later the Ngai Tahu Research Centre at the University of Canterbury.
