Dave Bromwich has had active involvement in China since 1990, with almost 4 years total over 18 visits spent in China exploring different pursuits. He spent one year with his family in Napier’s sister city Lianyungang teaching English, and has travelled widely. Since 2002, main work activity has been in rural poverty reduction development projects, both in a private capacity in Guangxi and Guizhou provinces, and extensively in representing NZCFS in its project work, especially in NW China.

Dave has been the main contact person for Shandan Bailie School, where he has facilitated New Zealanders going there as teachers of English since 2002, and has developed several rural cooperative development projects in Shandan county and Zhanye district based at the school.

Since 2008, he has organized and led three tours to China, with a strong focus on rural communities and NZCFS projects, which have provided opportunity for members to meet our project partners from counterpart to village level, to inform tour members of our project work, and glimpse life in rural communities in general. In 2009, he was leader of the Prominent Persons and Leaders Tour .

He has served as NZCFS HB Branch President (1997 to 2000), and on national executive from 2000, including 4 years as North Island Vice-president (2000-4, and again since 2010 AGM). He has been an executive member of ICCIC (Gungho) since 2006, and was elected as a vice-chair in 2010. He has also served on Hastings – Guilin Sister City Board since inception.
