On Saturday 13th February, in collaboration with the Waikato Museum, NZCFS Hamilton ran their first event of the year in the lovely museum setting. This was an annual event to celebrate Chinese New Year and this year, it was decided that “children’ would be the theme.
For the first hour of the event we watched performers from the local Chinese community. Then we had games and activities for the children, including a Chinese zodiac video, a quiz with red envelope prizes, making of lanterns and coloring-in. The event was very well supported and the children enjoyed all the activities, especially the lantern making. We are grateful to Fonterra for donating merchandise for the occasion. After all it is the Year of the Ox (cow)!
