As you might expect the Centenary Celebration at Moeawatea this Easter has been cancelled. Although this is disappointing it is reassuring to see that our Government has acted decisively and we are now well-placed to come through the pandemic in better shape than many other countries.
The “Alley Whare” was given a national heritage B classification following its restoration in 1988 by Government Taskforce Green workers some of whom were going to attend the Easter celebration. There has been such a good response to the idea of celebrating the centenary that the organisers are thinking of having something similar at a later date this year or perhaps next year.
Best wishes and good health to all on behalf of the Rewi Alley Moeawatea Trust.
