This month our Guest Speaker will be Ian Howat along with Willy and Anna Bow. They will tell us about their recent trip to China where they visited the home of Confucius and many other interesting places in Northern China . Ian is a member of the Hamilton Branch and has attended some of our meetings. I am sure it will be an enjoyable afternoon. Remember bring a friend and something for our shared lunch. Everyone is welcome.

November will be our end of the year luncheon. Venue yet to be decided. Any suggestions for October ?
NATIONAL NEWS
Recently Auckland lost two long standing members well known for their long services and contributions to the China Friendship Society; Isobel Thompson and Cecil Fowler. Our condolences to their families and the Auckland Branch. The tours for 2015 have been announced. In late April/May a Garden and Missionary Tour will include Shanghai/Suzhou; Sichuan and Beijing. Another Explore China will take place July/August and will explore North Central Region which will include inner Mongolia. Judy Livingston has already released her itinerary for the second photographers tour. This tour will visit Sichuan, Tibet and Yunnan. I will attach the details of that tour with this newsletter. Laytee George has been a recipient of a grant from The Rewi Alley Friendship Exchange Fund for her Young Ambassador Project. The 2015 Conference will be held in Nelson.
OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST
Some of us attended the Moon Festival. It was an enjoyable evening and also entertained by a visiting Korean group. It is appreciated by the organizers that we support this event. Also Min Zhang is still holding the Mandarin Corner every Saturday morning at Waiariki Institute of Technology starting at 11:00 a.m. Feel free to contact her directly for more information.
