GREETINGS TO ALL:
We had a great start to the year with a good turn out for our first meeting. A welcome was extended to five new visitors which we hope that they will be able to attend again.
DATE: Sunday 18 MARCH 2012
TIME: 12:30 P.M.
VENUE: ROTORUA ARTS CENTRE (RAVE) 1240 Hinemaru Street
Our Guest Speaker will be Eric Livingstone. Eric has been the President of the National organisation of the New Zealand China Friendship Society for 4 years. Previously he was the Managing Director of Guthrey Breeding Services where he was involved in trade delegations and visits to China, one led by the 1984 Trade Minister Mike Moore. He advised Gansu Provincial Government on Animal Breeding. He led a sister City delegation to Gansu as well as other tour groups for the China Friendship Society. Eric has been a member of the Society for 25 years and lives in Christchurch.
Eric will speak to us about Tibet. He will cover the geography of Tibet and its connection to Australia. Eric will explain where the people of Tibet might have originated from and what has been found in recent DNA studies. He will also give us some of the history regarding the ruling powers along with the religions in Tibet.
I am sure it will be a very interesting and informative presentation. Everyone is welcome. We will start with our social shared lunch followed by Eric’s presentation. Remember this is a week earlier than our normal meeting time.

The purpose of this luncheon is to meet the local JP’s who will explain what their roles are in the community and the District Court. It is hoped that this luncheon and networking will encourage those attending to give some thought to who has been involved in local community activities and is of good standing that might be suitable to be nominated for our local Member of Parliament to consider in becoming a Justice of the Peace. For some time the Justice of the Peace in the Rotorua District have been aware of the lack of representation of some ethnic groups, i.e. Chinese, as JP’s in Rotorua. Please give this issue some consideration.
